Marriage is not only a union of two hearts who are committed to spend the rest of their lives together. It is also a merging of cultures, traditions, and beliefs. This is what happened with Sonam and Dan. An Indian fusion wedding was the perfect choice for their celebration. The wedding was able to honor both couple’s roots. This Rockleigh, New Jersey wedding is worth remembering, not only to the couple but also to their family and friends.
Before the big day, there were a series of ceremonies. The couple were quite busy, knowing that Indian weddings are quite hectic. But this did not bother Sonam and Dan. It started with the Mehendi where the bride was treated to an intricate design of swirls using Mehandi paste with the belief that the bride would be blessed with good wishes and fortune. The next day, Sangeet followed. It was a night full of laughter, dancing, music, food, and drinks. Each and everyone was able to enjoy and participate in the ceremony. On the third day, the Vidhi took place. Prayers were offered and haldi was also done. Family and friends participated, applying the turmeric paste with gusto.
Finally, the wedding ceremony came. As mentioned earlier this is an Indian fusion wedding. The Hindu ceremony was done first and the Christian ceremony was done after. It was truly a big day for the couple, knowing too well that they had prepared and planned well. The burst of colors, attention to detail, and exquisite clothing used for the Hindu wedding ceremony are worth mentioning. The Christian ceremony is not far behind. With its simplicity and solemnity, these two different ceremonies may be poles apart but it did not miss the main purpose of it all, to witness and celebrate the union of two souls committed to a lifelong vow to always choose each other, no matter what.
