Avneet and Harman, a Punjabi couple, chose Generations Riviera Maya as the perfect destination for their Indian wedding. Not only is the resort known worldwide for its luxurious accommodations and beautiful beach views, but it also provides the perfect backdrop for a Punjabi wedding.Â
Before their big day, Harman and Avneet had an epic pre-wedding shoot at a cenote. A cenote is an underground cave with crystal clear water that comes from the Yucatán Peninsula—perfect for photos! The couple looked amazing in their traditional attire and incorporated many vibrant colors into their outfits to create a truly stunning look.
The bridal mehendi was full of joyful singing, bright colors, and cultural influence from both sides of the family. It was an intimate occasion filled with music and laughter about how two families were able to come together in such a beautiful way. The henna designs were intricate and carefully applied with utmost precision by experienced mehendi artists Loto Mehendi by CB&Co.Â
The punjabi maiyyan ceremony marks important milestones leading up to the wedding itself – here again Avneet and Harman invited close family and friends who helped them celebrate these milestones in punjabi culture. It was a joyous time honoring punjabi traditions such as “Jago” or waking up early to start the day’s festivities, bringing milk pots as gifts for the bride’s family home, feeding each other sweets for prosperity and eating symbolic fruits.
To top off this night of celebration before the big day was a welcome party with singing and dancing that kept guests entertained into the early hours of morning!
They also incorporated haldi event followed by a holi party at the beach, shaagan and chunni events which were all meaningful ways for them to honor their cultures.Â
The punjabi wedding celebrations of Avneet and Harman culminated in a sangeet night full of amazing performances.Â
The choora ceremony is a punjabi wedding tradition that marks the bride’s transition from her father’s home to the groom’s. Avneet and Harman celebrated this wedding ceremony with their family and friends at the beautiful pier at Generations Riviera Maya. The bride was adorned in a stunning red and golden punjabi suit, her hands adorned with intricate henna designs and an array of traditional punjabi jewelry, including heavy gold bangles which signify her married status.Â
Normally, for the baraat the groom that comes in on the horse, however for the first look,Avneet walked down the beach to his bride with two beautiful white horses. It was an amazing and epic sight to see. Needless to say we had a blast photographing these moments and one would thing that this would be the height of things for a wedding like this, but no.. there was more.
The reception was a sight to be seen. With a gorgeous decor and lighting, it was truly a luxurious reception. Guests were treated to delicious punjabi cuisine, polished off with a traditional punjabi dessert bar. Thanks to Generations Riviera Maya resort providing a beautiful backdrop for these festivities, this Punjabi destination wedding was one both families will remember fondly for years to come.
We have to give props to Shaadi Destinations and JC Castillo for making this wedding beyond epic.
